Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Committee on Works and Transport will today conduct a public hearing on a bill for a law seeking to establish a road traffic management authority, to be known and addressed as ‘Akwa Ibom State Road Traffic Authority’.
The public hearing is sequel to the bill sponsored by member representing Itu State Constituency, Idongesit Ituen, tagged, A bill for a Law to establish the Akwa Ibom State Road Traffic Authority and for other matters connected therewith, which is currently before the state house of Assembly.
According to a release by the Clerk of the House of Assembly Committee on Works and Transport, Unwana Idungafa, Government and non-Governmental Organizations, Stakeholders in the Transport sector including the Commissioner for Transport and Petroleum Resources, Orman Esin, are to attend the public hearing, as well as members of the public to the public hearing.
The release indicates that the public hearing which will commence by 10. 00am at Ibom e -Library, Babangida Avenue, Uyo is to afford members of the public as well as stakeholders in the transport sector an opportunity to contribute their inputs to the bill which is being considered by the state’s legislature.
Our House of Assembly correspondent, Anthony Esin reports that, at the end of the exercise, the committee is expected to gather inputs which will guide it in its report to be be submitted to the House for further legislative action.
