Akwa Ibom state government announces activities to mark 28th anniversary celebration of state’s creation

The Akwa Ibom state government has announced activities outlined to mark the 28th anniversary celebration of the state’s creation on wednesday, the 23rd of September, 2015.

Briefing members of the press at the Nigerian Union of Journalist press centre, the commissioner for information, Aniekan Umanah, disclosed that the state governor, Udom Emmanuel will kick-start the celebrations with the commissioning of water projects in the state, tomorrow, september 22nd 2015, using the Ifa Attai water project as a point of contact by 12;30 pm.

Umanah said the governor will thereafter move to commission the newly constructed Doctor Akan Ward at the St Luke Hospital, Anua by 1:30pm on d same day, after which he will hold a meeting with all stakeholders and opinion leaders in the state at the banquet hall, government house, Uyo, as part of his political inclusion programme .

According to the information boss, a carnival float will take off from different parts of the state by 9am on Wednesday, 23rd september, and terminate at the Godswill Akpabio International stadium, where governor  Udom will plant a seed of believe before the official launch of the Dakkada initiative in celebration of Akwa Ibom at 28.

Correspondent Okodi Okodi reports that the commissioner for information, who was flanked by his counterpart in the ministry of culture and tourism, Emmanuel Ibiok, also informed the public that the governor will flag off road contructions including the Oron-Uyo road on thursday 24th, and will hold the anniversary thanksgiving service on sunday 27th sept, 2015.
