Residents in Uyo have continued to appeal to the state government and relevant authorities to regulate and control the manner at which approvals are given for the citing of a petrol or gas station in the state.
This was in reaction to a fire outbreak that occured yesterday in Ikot osukpong along Ikot Ekpene-uyo road where a petrol tanker ignited fire while dispensing fuel into a filling station.
According to an eyewitness, who narrated the incident to Planet News, the tanker Driver was fast enough to avert the weight of the disaster, as he drove a burning tanker away from the filling station, thereby preventing major damages.
The people who condemned the practice of issuing approvals for filling stations to be cited in a residential area, also called on owners of filling station owners to be mindful of the times they choose to offload fuel into their tanks so as to avoid exposing people to dangers of a possible fire outbreak.
Our correspondent reports that no live was however lost during the incident, as men of the state fire service were on hand to quell further spread of the disaster.
