The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has confirmed Governor Udom Emmanuel’s nominee, Okon Okon, as Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Board of Internal Revenue.
The confirmation followed recommendation by the House Committee on judiciary, Justice, Human rights and Public Petition.
Presenting a report at the House plenary, the committee Chairman, Barrister Aniefiok Dennis of Etinan State Constituency informed the House that the nominee was earlier invited for screening and was accordingly cleared for the appointment.
Having formally received the report and the committee’s recommendation, the House proceeded to ratify the appointment through a pronouncement by the Speaker.
House of Assembly Correspondent Anthony Esin reports that some critical bills before the House, including the Akwa Ibom State Social Housing Scheme Bill sponsored by the Speaker and eleven other members were, however, stood down from the order paper during the plenary to pave way for deliberation on a report on the amendment of the house standing order.
