Akwa United beats Heartland FC

Akwa United re-ignited hopes of escaping relegation in the Nigeria Professional League with a 1-0 win against Heartland FC in a week 29 fixture played yesterday at the Nest of Champions.

Ukeme Davies goal was enough for Akwa United to pick all three points and move up into 15th position on the table with 9 more matches to play this season.

In other results, second placed Warri Wolves maintained their good run with an emphatic win 3-0 win against visiting Kwara United with Kufre Ebong scoring his third goal of the season.

Elsewhere, Sunshine Stars lost 3-2 to Nasarawa United in front of their fans in Akure and Enugu Rangers fought back from a goal down to defeat traditional rivals Shooting Stars 2-1 in Enugu.

Meanwhile, league leaders-Enyimba continued their title surge by setting the pace on the table with 55 points following a 2-0 win over hard fighting Dolphins in Aba.
