Akwa United poor run in the NPFL continued yesterday when they recorded their 13th loss of the season in a 3-1 defeat against Wikki Tourists in Bauchi as Match-day 28 returned at different centers across the Country.
The Team which has qualified for the final of the Federation Cup has however struggled with form in the league, failing to win in the last five matches to see them dropping to 16th on the League table, with just 31 points from 28 matches.
In Jos, Charles Henlong converted a spot kick in the 74th minute for Giwa FC to end the 10-match unbeaten run of Enyimba, who were last defeated in July, when they lost 2-1 to Warri Wolves in a Week 17 encounter.
However, Enyimba, still on 52 points, remain four points ahead of second-placed Wolves, who took over the spot from Sunshine Stars after their 1-1 draw with Nasarawa United.
Sunshine Stars are third with 47 points after their 2-1 loss to Shooting Stars in Ibadan, and Wikki Tourists are fourth after the win over Akwa United to garner 47 points.
