Association of Resident Doctors suspends indefinite strike in University of Uyo Teaching Hospital

The Association of Resident Doctors, University of Uyo Teaching Hospital has suspended its indefinite strike action, following a signed Memorandum of Understanding between the management of university of Uyo teaching hospital and the Association.

A release by the president of the Association of Resident Doctors, UUTH, Uyo, Doctor Ekerete Ekot, stated that full Medical Services are restored in all clinical Departments in the spirit of continued quality health care delivery to the general public.

The release thanked Akwa Ibom people and the management of teaching hospital for their understanding and support during the period of the industrial action.

The release also appreciated to the senior special Assistant to the president on National Assembly matters -Senate, Senator Ita Enang, the commissioner for health, Doctor Dominic Ukpong, the permanent secretary, ministry of Housing and Urban Renewal Doctor Valarie Obot.

Also appreciated were the chairman, Nigerian Medical Association, Akwa Ibom State, Doctor Augustine Umoh, and the chairman MDCAN, UUTH, Doctor Emmanuel Inyang –Etoh for their inputs in resolving the crisis.
