Australian Jason Day wins his first major title at the US PGA Championship

Australian Jason Day yesterday won his first major title with a record score of 20 under par at the US PGA Championship

The world number five, shot a closing 67 at Whistling Straits to record the lowest total at one of golf’s four majors, ahead of Masters and US Open champion Jordan Spieth, who finished three shots back in second place.

However, a second place finish was enough for Spieth  to become the new golf world number one player, replacing Rory McIlroy who closed with a 69 to end his first tournament back from an ankle injury at nine under par.
