Bayern Munich star Arjen Robben announces retirement from international football

Bayern Munich star Arjen Robben has announced his retirement from international football after scoring twice in the Netherlands’ 2-0 win over Sweden in a World Cup qualifier.
Despite his brace, the Netherlands failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup after a poor start to the campaign.
33 year old Robben started playing for his senior national team in 2003 and scored 37 goals in 96 matches.
Meanwhile, A Lionel Messi hat-trick ensured Argentina came from behind to win in Ecuador and avoid missing a World Cup finals for the first time since 1970.
The 2014 runners up began the day sixth in the group and needing a top-four place to qualify automatically.
However, Chile – the winners of the last two Copa America titles – are out after losing 3-0 in Brazil.
Peru finished fifth in South American qualifying and will now meet New Zealand in a two-legged play-off.
