Super Eagles Camp on Fire: Coach Oliseh threatens to Walk Out

Pandemonium erupts among the Super Eagles in Belgium camp following the rift between Coach Sunday Oliseh and captain Vincent Enyeama ahead of tomorrow’s friendly match against Congo.

Enyeama, who joined the team yesterday had questioned Coach Oliseh’s choice of naming Ahmed Musa captain for the friendly games against DR Congo and Cameroon. The coach did not like it and asked him to leave the team’s hotel and immediately made moves to call up Dele Alampasu.

Very reliable sources in camp said that players who had been loyal and training religiously under started sowing seeds of discord among the players, a situation that Oliseh vowed he would not tolerate.

The source claimed that Sunday Oliseh was so furious that he threatened to work out of the Eagles camp if Enyeama does not leave camp.

It would  be recalled that in September, the goalkeeper failed to report to camp in Abuja for the Super Eagles’ Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Tanzania, only for news to break that he had lost his mother.

Coach Oliseh has reiterated that indiscipline and poor show of commitment from players would not be allowed in his team, particularly during the rebuilding phase.

President of Nigeria Football Federation -NFF, Amaju Pinnick, confirmed this; However, he stated that the situation has been resolved as Enyeama is back to the camp.

“When I heard of the situation, I called Coach Sunday Oliseh and he confirmed he told Vincent to leave the team hotel. Yes, there was a misunderstanding but the matter has been resolved and Enyeama will stay in camp,” he said.

Oliseh has since announced Ahmed Musa as captain of the Eagles in place of Enyeama.

The Eagles are also to play against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon on Sunday in a double header friendly arranged by the NFF to prepare them ahead of the 2017 World Cup qualifiers.

Will these alterations dampen the spirit of players and affect the performance of the team against Congo in the friendly tomorrow and Sunday’s Friendly Match against Cameroon?
