Comptroller-General of Customs, retired Colonel Hameed Ali, says he will not honour the invitation of the Senate today.
Ali told journalists after a closed-door meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, that his position was informed by the fact that the case is in court adding that it would amount to contempt of court for him to appear before the senate as it had demanded.
Senators who sent the Customs boss away on Thursday last week for failing to appear in customs uniform, had asked him to appear before them in uniform for questioning today Wednesday.
The request is part of a lingering dogfight between the Customs boss and lawmakers over issues bordering on Customs operations across the country, especially on the recent policy regarding vehicle papers.
