The Independent National Electoral Commission-INEC has started a Continuous Voter Registration exercise today in Kogi and Bayelsa States ahead of the governorship election.
The Commission announced that the exercise will take place for six days in the States, beginning from today September 2nd, adding that the essence of the Continuous Voter Registration was for three groups of eligible electorates to register and be able to vote in the elections.
According to INEC, the groups include those who were eligible but did not register before the 2015 general elections, those who are eligible but whose names are not on the voters’ register and those who have attained the age of 18 years since the last voter registration exercise.
It asked voters to go to their local government areas where it is expected that the exercise would commence everyday during the scheduled six days of the exercise from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm.
The election in Kogi State has been scheduled for Saturday, November 21st while that of Bayelsa State will hold on Saturday, December 5th, 2015.
