The White House has announced that Abdel Fattah al-Sisi of Egypt will make an official visit to Washington on April 3rd, ending years in which the Egyptian president had been kept at arm’s length amid rights concerns.
Sisi’s visit to Washington would be the first to the White House since the former army chief became president in 2014.
In the meantime, President Donald Trump has signed an executive order rolling back Obama-era rules aimed at curbing climate change saying it would put an end to the “war on coal” and “job-killing regulations”.
However, Business groups have reportedly praised the Trump administration’s move but environmental campaigners have condemned it.
