The federal government has joined in the felicitation of the quick restoration of civilian rule in Burkina Faso, after President Muhammadu Buhari hosted an extraordinary session of ECOWAS Heads of State and Governments in Abuja, where the decision was taken to ensure the termination of the military coup in the West African nation.
Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo said this while representing President Buhari in Ouagadougou, Burkina’s capital to convey the recommendations agreed by the ECOWAS leaders.
Speaking with reporters in the capital city after a formal restoration of power ceremony, Osinbajo said the reinstatement of civilian authority in Burkina Faso after the military coup conducted by the country’s presidential guards was a positive move.
The vice president said ECOWAS played a significant role in the process that made the restoration possible and reiterated Nigeria’s continued brotherly support for Burkina Faso.
