The Federal Government has fired seven top officials of the National Health Insurance Scheme – NHIS, from their posts until further notice, barely a week after sending its Chief Executive on compulsory leave.
The Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole, who announced the suspension of the officers in a memo, explained that the decision was to pave the way for unbiased investigation of the reported large scale fraud in the NHIS.
The memo suspending the additional officials with reference No. HMH/ABJ/123/02 and dated July 14, 2017, was addressed to the Permanent Secretary in the Health Ministry and was signed by Professor Adewole.
