The Director General, National Information Technology Agency -NITDA, Dr. Isa Pantami has said the Federal Government is to establish a Digital Job Centre in Akwa Ibom.
Pantami who disclosed this during the 9th edition of Startup event in Uyo, said the project was part of the FG’s measures to create jobs for the teeming youths.
The NITDA DG said the centre would help motivate and encourage the youths to come up with ICT solutions to nation’s challenges, adding that the agency was ready and willing to support any youth who has ideas through ICT to proffer solutions to problems confronting the nation.
The director general said that since it has become difficult to secure white collar jobs in the present harsh economic situation, government has to focus more in building technology entrepreneurs.
In his remarks, the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Science and Technology, Professor Nse Essien said that the state government has long embrace ICT in finding solutions to some issues facing the state urged the youth to embrace the program and take serious attention to achieve the required.
