A former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, has tasked the leadership of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp-NSCDC on patriotism and asked the incoming leadership to ensure it sustains gains made by his predecessor.
The former President was speaking while playing host to the immediate past Commandant General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp, Ade Abolurin, who paid him a courtesy call at his hilltop residence in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
Obasanjo stressed the need for the leadership of the civil defence to effectively build on the principles of patriotism and professionalism and urged them to provide adequate protection for physical infrastructure left behind by the retired Commandant General whom he said had turned the fortunes of the establishment for better despite the many challenges.
Earlier, Abolurin who served as the Commandant General of the corp for 10 years paid a visit to the Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun where he expressed his gratitude to the State Governor for his support to him during his time as the Commandant General of the civil defence and expressed appreciation to all those who made his service worthwhile.
