FRSC in Akwa Ibom State decries refusal of most tricycle riders in the state to undergo driving training

The federal Road Safety Corps–FRSC in Akwa Ibom State has decried refusal of most commercial tricycle riders in the state to undergo requisite driving training and acquisition of drivers’ license as required by the law before operation.

Speaking with PLANET NEWS in Uyo, the State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Sunday Oghenekaro, while stating that there has been tremendous improvement in traffic regulation activities, however, said the non-compliance to training requirement by most commercial keke operators has constituted undue nuisance in traffic management especially in the state capital.

According to him, Category A Drivers’ License is meant for both motorcycles and tricycles, while those applying to obtain such licenses should not be below 18 years of age and must have been trained in any of the certified drivers training schools in the state.

Our Correspondent Anthony Esin reports that the state FRSC boss also warned against patronizing unauthorized and illegal driving schools, noting that only drivers trained in the certified and recognized driving schools are eligible to apply for drivers’ license.
