Akwa Ibom State Governor Udom Emmanuel, has urged corps members posted to the state to give their best for the development of the state.
Governor Emmanuel made the call on Thursday, while declaring open the 2015 Batch A, stream 2 orientation exercise in the state.
2,300 corps members were deployed to the state in the 2015 Batch A, stream 2, which made it a total of 11,000 corps members that are currently serving in Akwa Ibom State.
Governor Emmanuel urged the corps members to see their service year as an opportunity to contribute their quota to the development of the state and the country.
He gave the assurance that the welfare of corps members posted to the state would get his administration’s utmost attention.
Promising to upgrade facilities in the orientation camp, the Governor promised that he would honour all commitments and promises made to the state National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) by the immediate past administration in the state.
The State Director of NYSC, Ngozi Chukuka, said that the directorate was poised to groom more skilled, disciplined and hardworking youths who would add value to the State and Federal Government.
She informed the Governor that facilities in the camp had been overstretched due to explosion in the population of corps members posted to the state.
