Akwa Ibom state governor Udom Emmanuel has pledged that the state will collaborate with the Federal government to ensure that the people benefit from the various social intervention programmes of the Federal government.
Governor Emmanuel who made the pledge when he received the Minister for women affairs and social development, Senator Aisha Alhassan and her team on a courtesy call at the government House Uyo, commended the Minister for the promise of partnering with the state to ensure that skill acquisition centres are established across all the local government areas.
He reiterated the need for the Federal government to commence the home grown school feeding programme in the state so as to complement the free and compulsory education policy already carried out by the state government.
While stating that he has promulgated lots of laws and policies in favour of the girl child, Udom urged Senator Alhassan to, at the Federal level, advocate the need for the government to refund monies spent by the state in executing federal projects.
Government House correspondent Jane Uwa reports that earlier the Minister for women affairs had said they were in the state to sue for the continuous partnership of Akwa Ibom State with the Federal government for them to succeed in empowering and taking care of women.
