Akwa Ibom State Governor Udom Emmanuel has inaugurated the Akwa Ibom Enterprise and Employment Scheme-AKEES manufacturing factory and mini industrial park which houses the paper factory, plastic factory, Bamboo pulp, an Artisan training center and the relocated pencil and toothpick factory, with a pledge to make Akwa Ibom an industrial hub of the nation.
Speaking during the event held at AKEES industrial Estate, Itam in Itu local government area, the Governor who commended the technical team for bringing his vision into reality, also thanked the community for their support.
While stating that he will remain focused despite the unnecessary propaganda by distractors, Governor Emmanuel reiterated his commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy to the people.
Giving an overview of the project, the coordinator of AKEES and the senior special assistant to the Governor on technical matters , Elder Ufot Ebong who noted that the inauguration of the factory, has put to rest insinuations that the industrial park was not functioning.
Government House correspondent Jane Uwa reports that the Governor had earlier commissioned a fully constructed 3.0 kilometers Aka Community road with a spur to C-Division Police Station and Aka road.
