Governor Udom Emmanuel has sworn in the paramount ruler of Ini local government Area His Royal Majesty Ntoeng Udo Effiong Akpan as the 29th Chairman Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs.
Speaking during the swearing in ceremony at the State banquet hall government House Uyo, the Governor who appreciated the support of the traditional rulers and royal fathers to the state government, charged the newly sworn in chairman to discharge his duty without fear or favour.
While thanking the immediate past chairman of the state council of Chiefs his Royal Majesty Owong Effiong Archianga for his commitment and cooperation to the government during his tenure, Udom, who administered the oath of office and allegiance, charged the paramount rulers of the core oil communities to ensure that peace is maintained between the oil producing companies and the people of the community.
In his acceptance speech, the newly sworn in chairman, state council of chiefs, His Royal Majesty Nteong Effiong Akpan who described his appointment is a clarion call to serve the state, pledged to work with the government in the task of moving Akwa Ibom forward.
Government House correspondent Jane Uwa reports that paramount rulers of Eastern Obolo, Etim Ekpo, Ibesikpo Asutan, Ikot Ekpene, Mbo, Onna and Udung Uko local government Areas were also sworn in and presented with staff of office by the governor.
