House of Representatives inaugurates standing Committees

House of Representatives has inaugurated 96 standing Committees in a special session, with the Speaker Yakubu Dogara dismissing the existence of ‘juicy committee’.

While inaugurating the committees at the National Assembly, Dogara expressed the hope that the committee would afford members the opportunity to serve and empower the people and not themselves,

Reacting to recent contention of the composition of committees by some members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, the Speaker emphasized that there are no juicy committees in the House of Representatives.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, who was present at the inauguration, stressed that the National Assembly could not afford to fail and called on members to live above board in their dealings.
