Following the recent setting up of a 10-member Technical Committee on the realization of Ibom Deep Seaport project by Governor Udom Emmanuel, a Risk and Safety expert, Dr. Joseph Itiaba has commended the governor for taking a step in actualizing his administration’s promise of developing the maritime sector. In a chat with newsmen, Dr. Itiaba, who is the Chairman, Cooperate Institute of Risk and Safety Management, maintained that the project will help the state in exploiting the huge amount of resources available in the sector as well as expand the economy of the state through increased private investment. Itiaba, who also doubles as the state chairman of Accord Party added that such project will provide opportunities for creating more jobs for the unemployed youth and generate internal revenue, which according to him, would boost the revenue base of government outside oil derivation from the federal government. While congratulating members of the newly instituted committee on their appointment, he urged them to utilize their experience and be competent in the discharge of assigned duties.
Speaking further, he congratulated former governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio on his emergence as the Senator representing Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District in the National Assembly. He equally felicitated with the new Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Aniekan Uko, who also represents Ibesikpo Asutan State Constituency; member for Uyo State Constituency, Hon Monday Eyo; member for Nsit Ubium State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke and the member for Ini State Constituency, Hon Emmanuel Ekpenyong for their successful emergence and subsequent swearing-in. He charged them to use their mandate in empowering the citizenry via creating employment opportunities and facilitating meaningful development to the people of the state.
