Kanye West shortlisted for MTV lifetime achievement Award

American rapper and music producer, Kanye West has been shortlisted to receive the lifetime achievement award at the MTV Video Music Awards.

According to the organizers of the award, the rapper will be honoured for his ground-breaking videos, legendary performances and continued impact on music, art, fashion and culture with its highest honour, known as the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award.

Previous winners include Madonna, Beyonce, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and The Rolling Stones.

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift leads this year’s awards, with nine nominations. Ed Sheeran follows her with six nominations including video of the year for Thinking Out Loud with Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar and Mark Ronson each having five nominations.
