Leaders of Itu, Uruan and Ibiono Ibom local government Area of Akwa Ibom state have called on the Federal government through the National Boundaries commission-NBC to investigate and bring to book culprits involved in the boundary crises between the state and Cross River.

Speaking on behalf of the leaders at a press briefing in Uyo, Doctor Ekong Demson noted that the press conference became necessary owing to the fact that after a recent reconciliation meeting between the two states, seventeen mercenaries from Cross River who were arrested with sophisticated weapons were allegedly released while fishermen along the river in Itu were attacked two days after the meeting.

While stating that the leaders are not unmindful of the fact that key functionaries of cross river state are in sponsorship of the crises, Demson stressed that the people will be forced to resort to self help if the government at the National level does not step in to immediately bring a lasting solution to the lingering crises.

our correspondent Jane Uwa reports that the political leader of Uruan Obong Peter Atakpo in his contribution also appealed to the affected communities to allow peace to reign as Akwa Ibom is a peace loving and law abiding state.
