As the rainy season sets in, people have been advised to keep their environment clean, depose their refuse properly and protect themselves from vicinities where mosquitoes are likely to live to avoid coming down with malaria.
Doctor Emediong Akpan-ekpo who gave the advice when he spoke with planet news said people should take precautionary measures in preventing malaria this season by using mosquito nets and repellants, drainage of stagnant water, avoid exposure of edible items and keeping of a clean environment.
While stating that Malaria which is an acute illness is capable of killing and should not be underestimated, the medical expert stressed that people should however take safety measures in preventing the severe illness.
Our correspondent Jane Uwa reports that Doctor Akpan Ekpo stressed the need for everyone to be concerned about their health during and after the rainy season.
