The Constituency Briefing and Empowerment Programme of the member representing Ukanafun State Constituency in the House of Assembly, Otobong Jonathan, was yesterday held in Ikot Udo Mbang in Ukanafun Local Government Area with hundreds of beneficiaries from the 10 wards in the local government area receiving various empowerment items and packages.
Speaking before proceeding to present the items to the beneficiaries, the State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, represented by the Commissioner for Science and Technology, Professor Nse Essien, commended the Ukanafun lawmaker for his determination to touch the life of his people through the empowerment programme, noting that he had given a good account of himself.
In his briefing, the lawmaker Otobong Jonathan, who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Lands, Housing and Urban Renewal in the sixth assembly explained that he has sponsored bills and motions for the overall interest of his constituents and the state in general, as well as provided various projects and programmes for the purpose of improving the living standard of his people.
In their appreciation messages, some of the Ukanafun constituents took turns to commend the House member for his effective representation while urging him not to rest on his oars.
Our House of Assembly correspondent Anthony Esin reports that the items donated by the Ukanafun lawmaker were ten mini buses, three saloon cars, 26 motorcycles, five deep freezers, 30 hair dryers, 30 sets of barbing kits, 40 generating sets, as well as financial grants for small scale business operators and grants to students.
