Senate president Bukola Saraki today read the names of those nominated for ministerial positions, submitted to him last week by the senior special adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on national assembly matters- Senate, Ita Ennang.
Some Nigerians who made the list include Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, Senator Chris Ngige, former governor of Lagos, Babatunde Raji Fashola and his Rivers state counterpart, Rotimi Ameachi and the current head of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation-NNPC, Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu.
Others on the first batch of the nominees list are the publicity secretary of the All Progressive Congress- APC Lai Mohammed and former Ekiti state governor, Kayode Fayemi.
Speaking on the screening process, the Senator representing Niger state, Sadi Aliyu Abdulahi, stated that the 8th Assembly will thoroughly scrutinize the nominees, promising that the screening process will not be business as usual, as the senate will do its job to make sure that their nomination and subsequent appointments reflect the confidence of Nigerians.
Meanwhile, mixed reactions have trailed the nominees list with some accusing the president of taking too long to name people already known to Nigerians.
Screening of the Ministerial Nominees will commence next Tuesday, October 13th.
