Nigerian female wrestler, Odunayo Adekuoroye, qualifies for Rio 2016 Olympic Games

Nigeria’s female wrestler, Odunayo Adekuoroye, has qualified for the Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Brazil.

Adekuoroye, who won a gold medal at the last Commonwealth Games, faced a line-up of top wrestlers at the ongoing World Junior Wrestling Championship in Las Vegas, USA, to achieve the feat.

She began her quest for honours with the defeat of Malysheva from Russia 4-3 and also beat Horsham of Ukraine 13-3, and lost 2-4 to Mattsson of Sweden through a fall.

She bounced back to demolish Shustoke of Belarus10-0, and also defeated Zhong from China on by a pinfall to claim a bronze medal and also qualified for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
