The Inspector General of Police, IGP Solomon Arase has directed all Assistant Inspectors General -AIGs and Commissioners of Police, to beef up security across the 36 states ahead of the Sallah celebrations, to ensure safety of lives and property for the duration of the holiday.
The Police Force Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Kolawole, said all critical areas and states, including the FCT and Borno, are on high security alert.
She appealed to Nigerians, especially those in the northern part of the country, to be security conscious and report any unusual activity in their neighborhood and avoid entertaining strangers through the Sallah festivities.
Meanwhile, the Yobe State Governor, Ibrahim Gaidam, has called on Islamic faithful to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice, which is key to happy and prosperous society.
In a Sallah message to the people of the state, the Governor called on the people to also inculcate in their children the spirit of love, honesty, discipline and above all, the fear of Allah at all times.
Similarly, the Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, in his Sallah message urged them to continue to join hands with the government to move the state and the country to a greater height.
