Super Eagles’ Captain, John Obi Mikel is in line to be voted the player of the year for his Chinese team, Tianjin Teda when they hold their end of season award event.
Despite missing three months due to a knee injury, the former Chelsea midfielder is among the candidates for the player of the year for the club, as his return from injury helped their cause to beat the drop to the second division.
Mikel has so far made 12 appearances for Tianjin Teda in the Chinese Super League with a goal to his name, but his performance has endeared him to the fans and technical crew of the club.
Meanwhile, Kasimpasa defender Kenneth Omeruo has been handed a late call-up to the Super Eagles for Friday’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Algeria and the international friendly against Argentina on November 14.
Omeruo who was placed on standby for the matches prior to the injuries to three key players, is expected to arrive in Rabat Morocco today, where the team is training ahead of the final 2018 World Cup qualifier in Algeria on Friday.
The defender last featured for the Super Eagles in their 1-1 draw against Senegal in an international friendly in London.
