PDP National Working Committee warns federal government against intimidating PDP controlled states

The National Working Committee of the Peoples’ Democratic Party have warned the federal government led All Progressive Congress against intimidating states and people governed by the PDP.

The party gave the warning through its acting national chairman, Uche Secondus during a solidarity visit to the Akwa Ibom State governor, Udom Emmanuel at the government house, Uyo over the recent alleged invasion of the government house by the operatives of the Department of State Services-DSS.

Accompanied by other executive members, Secondus who condemned the act, expressed surprise that the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration is yet to react to action of the DSS which he described as undemocratic, disrespectful and a ploy by the ruling party to turn the country into a one-party nation.

While urging the governor and the people of Akwa Ibom to remain focus as the will of the people would be sustained in the state, the PDP National Working Committee called on the president to set up a special panel to investigate the reason behind the invasion of the Akwa Ibom State government house.

Responding, the state governor Udom Emmanuel thanked the party officers for their solidarity visit and assured them that the government is not shaken by recent events but committed to delivering dividends of democracy to the people of the state even as he also condemned partisanship in the nation’s democracy.

Our correspondent, Bassey Ibiatisuho reports that acting national chairman of PDP was accompanied on the visit by the party’s publicity secretary, Olisa Metuh, organizing secretary Ibrahim Mohammed, legal adviser, while the chairman of the party, Paul Ekpo other state executive members, chapter chairmen, stakeholders were present during the visit.
