Philippines to withdraw from ICC over country’s drugs war

Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte has said he plans to withdraw his country from the International Criminal Court-IC) after it began examining the country’s drugs war.

Duterte said it is apparent that the ICC is being utilized as a political tool against the Philippines..

Reports say the ICC had in February began examining alleged crimes committed during the controversial anti-drugs crackdown. The ICC chief prosecutor Fatou Bensouda had said the court would be looking at reports of extrajudicial killings.
