President Buhari has approved the voluntary retirement of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Abdullahi Dikko from the service with effect from today August 18.
In a statement signed by the Nigeria Customs Service spokesman, Wale Adeniyi in Abuja, Dikko had earlier written to the President indicating his desire to voluntarily retire from service with effect from today.
Adeniyi said in the letter, Dikko expressed his satisfaction with the massive achievements recorded through dogged implementation of his six-point agenda which had modernised the Nigeria Customs Service and includes capacity building of officers and men, ICT to maximise the potential of e-Customs, moral rebirth for integrity and enhanced welfare for officers and men.
According to the statement, the agenda also includes collaboration with the stakeholders and coordinated public relations activities to foster mutual understanding.
The statement quoted the outgoing comptroller-general as having urged the personnel to remain focused and support the incoming administration to consolidate on his achievements.
