President Muhammadu Buhari has said that it is imperative to engender good governance as well as ensure more transparency and accountability in governance at all levels of government in the country.
Buhari who stated this in Yola, Adamawa State capital while declaring open anti-corruption summit which began yesterday in Adamawa State, stressed that the fight against corruption must be localized in states and local government areas if good governance must be achieved everywhere.
He regretted that the federal government was not directly involved in checking corruption at the state level, saying the circumstance has affected the development of the country to some extent.
President Buhari while recalling his declaration on the 29th of May 2015 to tackle corruption head-on, said his administration will not relent in the task until the desired goal is accomplished.
The summit, with the theme “Performance-Based Governance: Transparency, Accountability, and Social Value,” under the chairmanship of respected elder statesman Ahmed Joda, continues today Wednesday.
