President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, and Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, to release the second tranche of the London-Paris Club refunds to states in order to ease their financial hardships.
The president, who addressed the meeting of the National Economic Council made up of state governors and chaired by the Vice-President however, made a strong case for settlement of unpaid salaries and pension liabilities of workers.
Buhari who had earlier released the first tranche of 388 billion naira to the state governments in December 2016 said the latest release was meant to ease their financial hardships to ensure the settlement of unpaid salaries and pension.
