President Muhammadu Buhari directs new service chiefs to end Boko Haram sect within three months

President Muhammadu Buhari has decorated the nation’s new service chiefs with a directive that they must come up with a concerted effort that will end the activities of the Boko Haram sect within three months.

Buhari gave this marching order after decorating the officers, whose appointments were announced two months ago, charging them to be accountable for all men and equipment under their command, with the welfare of the troops uppermost in their minds.

The President also pledged to give them the needed support, while charging them to protect innocent civilians as well as respect the rights of combatants to earn the support of Nigerians and the International Community.

The President directed them to get back to work and make the nation proud, saying they must justify the honour done them with their appointments.

On his part, the chief of defence staff, Major-General Abayomi Olonishakin, who spoke on behalf of the service chiefs, pledged that they will do all within their power to justify their appointment and the demands of the new offices.
