President Muhammadu Buhari has inaugurated the new head office complex of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission – EFCC in Abuja the nation’s capital, with a call on the judicial and legislative arms of government to uphold synergy with the executive in ensuring that corrupt persons impeding the advancement of the nation are brought to book.
President Buhari stated this in his address at the new EFCC complex where he noted that the clampdown on corrupt officials of government will be achieved not matter how long it takes.
While applauding the edifice, Buhari further called on Nigerians to support regulatory agencies like the EFCC, as fighting corruption is everyone’s concerns. According to Buhari, corruption not only kills government, but destroys societies as well, and is the major reason why Nigeria is struggling with developmental issues that other comparable nations have long overcome.
Earlier in his remarks, the EFCC boss, Ibrahim Magu, reiterated the zeal of the commission to discharge its duties without fear or favour, stating that the fight against the scourge corruption is collectively achievable.
The event played host to senior dignitaries within and outside the country among whom are the Speaker House of the Representatives Yakubu Dogara and former president of South Africa Thabom Beki.
