Senate President Bukola Saraki appears before Code of Conduct Tribunal.

The trial of Senate President, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has resumed before the Code of Conduct Tribunal in Abuja.

The senate president arrived the court at about 9:30am accompanied by deputy senate president and other senators.

Before today, the Senate President had maintained that he is ready to submit himself to due process of the law on any issue concerning him and also believes that he has an inalienable right to resort to the same judiciary for protection when he feels his fundamental rights are about to be infringed upon.

He said he was absent from tribunal based on legal advice he received from his counsel that it is not necessary for him to appear before the tribunal at this stage since the jurisdiction of the tribunal and the process of initiating the matter are being challenged before the Federal High Court, Abuja.

It could be recalled that the tribunal had ordered the inspector general of police, Solomon Arase to produce the senate president today to answer questions concerning his asset declaration when he was the governor of Kwara state between 2003 to 2011.
