Senate to commence screening of ministerial nominees today

The Chairman Senate Ad Hoc Committee on Media and Publicity, Senator Dino Melaye has confirmed that the senate will receive the ministerial list from the senior special adviser to the president on National Assembly matters- Senate, Ita Enang today.

Speaking before legislative proceedings today, Senator Melaye said the upper chamber was optimistic of receiving the list from the presidency before deliberations this morning, adding that it would work on the list as soon as it was in possession of the list.

He however said the screening of ministers would no longer be business as usual as the Senate would be more thorough and prudent in screening process.

On the vote of confidence passed on the leadership of the red chamber, the senate spokesman stated that the act is a reflection of the reliability of members of the upper legislative chamber on its leadership who is set to work in the interest of the people.
