South African amputee sprinter, Oscar Pistorius, to be released this week from Correctional Centre

South African amputee sprinter, Oscar Pistorius, is set to be released this week from the Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Centre after serving 10 months for killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

The athlete was sentenced to five years in prison for culpable homicide, but may be released under correctional supervision after serving a sixth of his sentence.

A parole board sat in June and authorized Pistorius placement under correctional supervision, which will see him now swap cell for his Uncle mansion in Waterkloof, but subject to strict conditions and monitored by a parole officer

Meanwhile, Steenkamp parents had issued a statement saying that incarceration of 10 months for taking a life is simply not enough, and over 200 South African women groups have called the ruling an insult to women Nationwide, while  launching a last-minute effort to stop Pistorius freedom.
