Spanish court sentence members of Catalan independence movement

A Spanish judge has jailed two key members of the Catalan independence movement Jordi Sánchez and Jordi Cuixart over seditious actions.
Sánchez and Cuixart, who lead prominent separatist groups are being held without bail while they are under investigation for sedition.
They are reportedly being investigated over a protest on 20th September in which a crowd blocked Civil Guard officers inside a building in Barcelona, Catalonia’s regional capital. The men also led figures in the 1st October independence vote, which the Madrid government regarded as illegal.
Meanwhile their detention has led to protests, with more expected across Catalonia today.
