UCCDA congratulates Godswill Akpabio for uncommon transformation

The Chairman, Board members, Management and the entire Staff of Uyo Capital City Development Authority- UCCDA, Akwa Ibom State, have joined millions of Nigerians to congratulate Akwa Ibom State Governor Godswill Akpabio, as he celebrates eight unbroken years of uncommon transformation of the state and his emergence as senator for Ikot Ekepne senatorial district.
In a statement released by the chairman, Hon Imo Edet Inyan, the authority salutes governor Akpabio and President Godluck Jonathan, on the success of his Transformation Agenda.
The statement also congratulates the Governor elect, Udom Gabriel Emmanuel for emerging as Governor of Akwa Ibom State and President elect, Muhammed Buhari, welcoming the duo of Emmanuel and Buhari on board with felicitations on the First Democracy Day in their leadership and the 16th Anniversary of democratic governance in Nigeria.
It stated that Nigerians could not have had it better than what they have now, adding that the milestones of development already record by this administration, would ever be green in the hearts of Nigerians and Akwa Ibom people, as citizens traverse the nooks and crannies of Nigeria, especially Akwa Ibom State.
The authority therefore prayed God’s continuous direction, guidance and strength on both leaders in their various places of assignment, as well as the wisdom to lead Nigerians and Akwa Ibom State.

Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union-COEASU, Akwa Ibom state College of Education, Afaha Nsit chapter has embarked on an indefinite strike over non-payment of salaries and arrears to their members by the state government.
The decision to embark on the strike was reached during a general congress of the union held under the supervision of both the state officers of the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Zonal Executive Committee of the College of Education Academic Staff Union.
According to the union, the action was taken after intimating the state government and the college’s governing council of some sensitive issues bothering some senior lecturers, which include non-payment of salary to some staff for twenty-three months and non-implementation of sixty-five years of retirement age.
Other issues mentioned were, non- payment of fifteen percent transport allowance for the years 2012, 2013 as well as 2014 to some qualified Academic Staff, non issuance of pay advice to staff, nonpayment of staff on promotion and migration among others.
Addressing the congress, the chapter chairman of Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union, Comrade Gloria Inyang who commended the academic staff of the college for working to ensure normal academic activities and the provost of the college Comrade Patrick Uko for his efforts to resolve the lingering crises, urged members of the union to be ready to work as a formidable team if they needed their demands met.
In their separate speeches, the state chairman of the NLC, comrade Etim Ukpong, the Vice Chairman, Comrade Iboro Ibara and the Zonal Coordinator of the colleges of education Academic Staff Union, Comrade Agba Agba thanked the union members for conducting themselves very peacefully in the institution even as most of them were owed salaries.
