Indonesia has summoned the British ambassador after a ship operated by a British company ran aground on a coral reef, causing extensive damage.
After being summoned to a meeting with Indonesia’s co-coordinating minister for maritime affairs Luhut Panjaitan, the UK ambassador Mozzam Mailk said he was disappointed to learn about the damage to the coral reef in western Papua.
The 4,290-ton Caledonian sky had hit reefs off an island in Raja Ampat, Papua province at low tide. The eastern region is famous for its biodiversity and the boat was taking tourists on a bird watching expedition.
