Indigenes of Ibiaku Uruan in Uruan Local government area under the aegis of Esop Ndito Uruan have expressed anger over the recent comments made by Dr Val Attah on Planet Radio that a cemetery should be situated in the area and have demanded an apology.
Expressing the people’s anger in a press briefing in Uyo, spokesperson for the group, Doctor Iniobong Ekpo said the people of the area feel insulted and have called for due apology and retraction of such utterances as it is demeaning to the highly educated people of Uruan.
He said the area has been abandoned by government even with the emergence of a radio station which has created jobs for the people and emphasized that any plan to site an embarrassing project in the area will be resisted.
Also speaking, another member of the group, Akan Emah, said it was sad that instead suggesting meaningful projects, Dr Attah proposed a cemetery.
Recall that Dr Val Attah, during an interview on planet radio recently suggested that Uruan has a wasted land that could be used for citing of a cemetery.
