Uyo residents call for peaceful coexistence between Akwa Ibom State Govt and the NDDC

The sore relationship between the Akwa Ibom State government and the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC has continued to be a source of worry to residents of Akwa Ibom state as they describe it as unnecessary and distracting.

The people of Uyo who spoke with planet news, wondered why the state government and the NDDC are at logger heads as to who should handle what project in the state, noting that this strive is capable of impeding development as well as causing political and security instability if not checked as, according to them, the intention of the NDDC is for the benefit of the generality of Akwa Ibom people.

While noting that the duty of the NDDC is to intervene in areas that each Niger Delta state demand help, the people called on the management of the NDDC to do the needful by way of laising with the state government so as to have an understanding as to where they should help, warning against politicizing development.

Recall that recently the state commissioner for works, Ephraim Inyangeyen had warned the NDDC against deploying its contractors to areas already awarded by the state government, calling on them to consult first with the ministry before embarking on any project in the state, a directive that has sparked many controversies.
