A women leader, Mrs. Glory Asuquo Peter has urged Akwa Ibom women and the entire people of Akwa Ibom state to support the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel for the sake of unity and progress. In a chat, she expressed satisfaction over the performance of women in ward six Uyo during April’s governorship election, and urged women in emulate same by playing an increased role in politics. She described Udom Emmanuel as people-oriented and God fearing leader, who will never disappoint those who voted massively for him and, however, implored him to focus on women empowerment and gender equality. Mrs. Peter solicited for extensive advocacy programmes for women, especially those in the rural parts of the state, so as to broaden their knowledge on politics, health, empowerment, education and other sundry issues affecting Akwa Ibom women. She stated that if women are adequately empowered, poverty can be banished in many families, and added that the fight for the emancipation of women must be embraced by all. She, however, enthused that Governor Udom Emmanuel will fulfill his promise of developing the state and ensuring peace and prosperity for all.
