Work resumes in Akwa Ibom State after expiration of two-day public holidays

Work has resumed in Akwa Ibom State after the expiration of the two-day public holidays declared by the Federal Government to mark the Easter Celebration.

Our correspondent Bassey Ibiatisuho who visited the State Secretariat in Uyo, reports that activities were still low as few civil servants were seen going in and out of the secretariat with few cars at the park.

Some of the civil servants who spoke to Planet News thanked the federal government for the opportunity given them to mark the celebration and recounted how they spent their holiday, while promising to carry out their duties effectively.

On the low turn-out of workers, some of the resuming workers attributed it to a possible annual leave that some of the civil servants might still be enjoying, while others believe that since the public holiday was over, it was time to get back to work and ensure that no backlog of work is allowed to spill into another month.

Meanwhile, normal activities have returned in the state capital with increased traffic as banks, businesses, private establishments and schools have all resumed for work.
