Workers in Akwa Ibom state commend Government for readiness to implement new minimum wage

Governor Udom Emmanuel has been applauded for his timely acceptance and declaration that he would pay the agreed 30,000 naira new minimum wage to workers in the state.

Some workers in the state who spoke with Planet News while, urged other state governors, who are yet to make declarative statement about the minimum wage to do so in order to justify their stance.

According to them, the pronouncement by the governor has stood him out amongst other state governors who are still foot-dragging over the issue.

While calling on the federal government to expedite the process of implementing the new minimum wage nationwide through proper legislation, they further called on other state governors not to obstruct the process of bring up the new minimum wage for workers.

It would be recalled that the governor while meeting with labour recently in the state pledged his readiness to [pay the 30,000 minimum wage once approved by the federal government.
